Beautiful exchange
‘I have a wreck. A 27-year-old wreck, that stings and is a sight for sore eyes, the house that I live in.
Then someone makes me an offer: The beautiful exchange. The terms being that I will surrender my wreck of a life/house and let Him come in and live in it with me. Him being all wise, all powerful, rich and having EVERYTHING I lack, will move in with me, live with me and transform this wreck into something beautiful.
I agreed to the contract. He on His part is ready, able and willing to see His part through. He is bound by the contract and takes it seriously, that is, if I will only let Him.
Inspection reveals a little renovation has being done here and there, and fewer restorations. The process has been slow. Why? I haven’t let Him do His job. I have ‘permitted’ Him to touch this, change a few things there, but this and that are off limits. As a result, it is sometimes months if not years of battling back and forth between us over an old, mouldy couch which gives me allergies, yet I won’t let go.
If I was to look at me as an observer, I will say “that girl must be the silliest person I have ever seen”. What is stopping me? What is holding me back? It is time to meet my own end of the bargain. To stop being silly and give in. To stop being afraid and embrace Him. It is time to let Him be the boss, love me and pour in me all that He has been longing to. I surrender.’
Conclusion
Christ paid the ultimate price, so that we might freely exchange our humanity for his divinity; the corruptible for the incorruptible. Let us take full advantage of the beautiful exchange. His sacrifice will not be in vain in our lives. Shalom.
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.- Romans 6:4
